US customers residing in a state where Coinbase offers service can fund their Coinbase accounts with USD via bank-wire or ACH transfers. Prior to transferring funds from your bank, you must verify your US bank account through the process below. For additional questions regarding adding payment methods, please visit Help Article.
Deposits are available on the Pro mobile app by going to the Portfolios page and tapping the Deposit button in the top right-hand corner.
Verify a US bank account
- Open the trading view at pro.coinbase.com/trade
- On the left-hand column under Wallet Balance, select the Deposit option
- In the Currency Type field, select USD
- Select the Bank Account tab, then select From, then select Add Account
- You will be redirected to Coinbase.com to complete the bank account verification process
Coinbase gives the option for 'Other Bank'. In which to verify they send a couple deposit transactions and by responding with the two amounts, that's how you verify that the account is yours. They do this because Plaid doesn't work with all banks. E.g., credit unions, etc, but Coinbase does.
Depositing from a U.S. Bank Account (ACH)
- Open the trading view at pro.coinbase.com/trade
- On the left-hand column under Wallet Balance, select Deposit
- In the Currency Type field, select USD
- Select the Bank Account tab. If you have verified your bank account, it should be listed here under From
- From the drop-down menu, select the verified bank account you would like to deposit from
- Specify the USD amount for the transfer then select the Deposit USD option to confirm
A bank transfer is a secure method for directly purchasing bitcoin using the money in your bank account. Bank transfers are more secure than other methods and they carry the lowest fees. Depending on your location and the exchange you go with, you can choose to purchase bitcoin with either a bank transfer or international wire transfer (SWIFT). You must sell using either a bank account or a USD account that will hold your money on Coinbase. Depositing/Sending Cryptocurrency. To deposit cryptocurrency to your Coinbase account, or to send it to another account, first select the “Accounts” tab. To deposit currency, navigate to your desired cryptocurrency then select “Receive”. However, you can do this if opting for a bank account deposit. The amount that you pay will vary depending on your location. If you’re based in Europe and subsequently using the SEPA network, deposits are free, and withdrawals cost a mere €0.15. In the UK, a bank wire deposit is also free, and the withdrawal costs just £1.
Depositing from a U.S. Bank Account (Bank Wire)
Bank wires are available to Coinbase Pro customers who have access to USD-denominated order books.
- Open the trading view at pro.coinbase.com/trade
- On the left-hand column under Wallet Balance, select Deposit
- In the Currency Type field, select USD
- Select the Wire Transfer tab. Follow the on-screen instructions—you will need to initiate a wire transfer from your bank account to your Coinbase Pro account
- You’ll be presented with instructions that provide either a personal account number or a unique reference code (you don’t need both) for initiating a wire transfer from your bank account
- Please note that the name on your bank account must match the legal name on your Coinbase Pro account for the wire to be accepted
Please be careful not to send an overnight or next-day *ACH*. An actual bank wire (not overnight or next-day ACH) must be submitted when sending to our wire details.
Withdrawing to a U.S. Bank Account (ACH and Bank Wires)
- Open the trading view at pro.coinbase.com/trade
- On the left-hand column under Wallet Balance, select Withdraw
- In the Currency Type field, select USD
- Select the ACH Bank Transfer or Wire Transfer tab. If you have verified your bank account, it should be listed here under To
- From the drop-down menu, select the verified bank account you would like to withdraw to
- Specify the USD amount for the transfer. You are able to withdraw all of your USD by selecting the MAX option
- Select the Withdraw USD option to confirm your withdrawal
How long will it take to deposit/withdraw from my bank account?
ACH
Purchases made using a debit card or the USD wallet are made available instantly.
When using bank transfers, the ACH bank transfer system is used for payments with your bank account. The ACH bank transfer system typically takes 3-5 business days* (which may be as many as 7-10 calendar days, depending on the timing of weekends and other bank holidays) to complete after initiating a purchase. The timing will be displayed prior to confirming your order.
You may see the funds immediately debited from your bank account when you initiate the transfer, but the funds will not be transferred to your wallet until your payment has finished moving between the banks and clears in our bank account.
After the banks have processed the transfer, the funds enter our system and you will see the money in your account sometime before the end of the estimated delivery day. This date is shown on the confirmation window when placing your order and can be located in the order confirmation email you received from us. End of the day is considered 11:59 PM PST.
Wires
Bank wire transfers may be credited to your Coinbase Pro account on the same day if submitted by 1:00 PM PT. Otherwise, funds will typically be available after one business day.

Since your local currency is stored within your Coinbase Fiat Wallet account, all standard purchases, as well as those made with a debit card, occur instantly. Deposits to your GBP Wallet using GBP bank transfers (Faster Payments) normally complete within 1 business day.
Canadian and Australian Customers
