Believe it or not, March Madness doesn’t just take place on the hardwood – there is an allegiance of NCAA Hockey Betting fans that look forward to the start of spring as well. The Frozen Four hockey tournament takes the best 16 NCAA teams in the land and lets them battle for the Division I Champ.
The tournament has been around in various shapes and forms since 1948 when it was called the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament. Winners of each of the six Divisions in NCAA Men’s Hockey get automatic bids into the tournament and the others are determined by playing themselves in. This year’s tournament has seen all but one Number One seed fall at some time in the tournament. It is also the first time that an Eastern Conference team has failed to qualify for the Frozen Four.

Minnesota Duluth started the season with a ton of promise and was viewed by some as the team to beat but an up and down season had them 11th ranked coming into the tournament. They boast a fast paced lineup with perhaps the best line in the league – Mike and Jack Donnelly and Justin Fontaine.
Notre Dame has one of the youngest teams in the NCAA and it was the youngsters that erased the memory of a horrendous last season. They are inexperienced and have a reputation for falling apart in the post season. Their goaltender has been tremendous in the tournament so far – Mike Johnson is a difference maker!
Minnesota Duluth just knocked off a Number One seed – Yale and I think the momentum gained from that game will carry them past Notre Dame. Watch out for Notre Dame next year though!

They are a veteran team with incredible attention to detail and are a nightmare to play against. The question begs – where is the offense going to come from.
North Dakota is the only Number One seed left in the tournament and have shown why. They have won 11 straight games and have outscored their two tournament combatants 12-1. They have a hot goaltender – Aaron Dell and they have the best player in NCAA Hockey – Matt Frattin.

It is difficult to imagine anyone slowing down North Dakota at this point. They are too talented in every aspect of the game. 11 wins in a row will become 12.
